QUINCY, Mass. -- A Quincy man who confessed leaving packages containing threats to rape young girls on peoples' doorsteps appeared in front of a judge Wednesday.David Anderson, 54, admitted to leaving the disturbing letters at at least five different homes between February and Easter Sunday, police said.NewsCenter 5's Pam Cross reported that police received a number of tips and one from a resident who reported having a bizarre conversation with Anderson. The letters were wrapped in women's underwear and included clippings from American Girl magazine. Some of the messages were left outside Lisa Dellamano's 8- and 10-year-old nieces' home.
"You know, we are very angry with him. My nieces are very afraid to go out and play, and, you know, they are really traumatized," Lisa Dellamano said.Anderson was arrested Tuesday at his apartment in Quincy's Remington Court. Police said he was fixated on one girl."We believe that we have located, or identified, the person, young girl, he refers to as Julie," Quincy Police Chief Robert Crowley said.Anderson is not a registered sex offender. Anderson's defense attorney said he is disabled and lives with family."They had a lot of really disgusting things, you know, as far as things that he wanted to do to them and things that he wanted to do to them that he was going to get them by the end of summer. It is scary. It is scary," Dellamano said.Anderson was charged with five counts of distributing obscene matter and was ordered held on $25,000 cash bail. If convicted, he faces 5 to 20 years in prison.
