(Cedar Rapids – KCRG) -- Jetseta Gage had been a victim of child molestation before being abducted Thursday night, her mother says.

Jet didn't have an easy life. Born with physical and mental limitations, Jet couldn't attend traditional schools. She has spina bifida and a thyroid problem. But no matter her challenges, she found a friend in her new neighborhood.

“I met the little girl, she plays with my son once in a while and sometimes she'll come over or the brother will come over and play." Kim Pope didn't know Jet well. The family had just moved onto Jacolyn Drive months ago. The last day anyone saw Jet alive, she was trying to do what 10 year old kids do, just be a kid. “She came over yesterday just to see if John could play over at her house but I told her she couldn't- that's the last time we seen her."

Other neighbors TV9 talked to said Jet was an outgoing, talkative girl.

The quiet Cedar Rapids neighborhood will probably never be quite the same.
