Justice For Jetseta
Email to a Friend Printer Friendly Version

The wife of James Bentley is speaking out in support of Jetseta Gage. Shelle Bentley says she wants justice for Jetseta. "They silenced her and we want her voice to be heard."

Shelle Bentley is married to James Bentley, the man sitting in jail, waiting to be tried for allegedly abusing Gage. His brother Roger allegedly kidnapped and killed the little girl.

Shelle Bentley called the media and stood outside the Linn County Courthouse saying she supports Jetseta Gage. "If Jetseta ever said it, it's got to be true."

She says she hopes both Bentleys are locked up for life, after Roger Bentley only served two years of his five year sentence for sexually abusing a child. The women also hope their small demonstration will encourage the County Attorney's Office prosecute James Bentley, even though Jetseta, his accuser, is dead. "Our children need to be safe."

The Linn County Attorney says it's up to the judge to decide on whether a videotape with Jetseta's testimony against James can be used in court.

Pat Goins never met Jetseta, but feels connected to her, saying she too was abused at a young age. "When somebody makes a charge, we have to take this serious, we have to look at all the angles and not just say whop another victim."

A family spokesperson from the Gage family did come to the event to let Shelle know that the Gage family would be unable to attend. They just say they need more time to grieve.

Shelle Bentley says she is in the process of getting a divorce from James.
