The wife of a man who's in jail awaiting trial on molestation charges said Thursday he should never be released from prison.

Shelle Bentley was part of a group who protested outside the Linn County Jail, where James Bentley is being held.

Jetseta Gage, 10, of Cedar Rapids, was kidnapped from her home a week ago. Police arrested a family friend and James Bentley's brother, Roger Bentley, in connection with the girl's disappearance and death. Roger Bentley is a registered sex offender.

James Bentley was jailed before Gage's death and is accused of sexually abusing Gage over a nearly three-year span in two counties.

Shelle Bentley said she has no sympathy for him and can identify with the victim. She said she turned in her husband when she found out he allegedly molested Gage and plans to divorce him.

Bentley said she has no sympathy for him, and that she can identify with the victim.

"I can't stand child molesters. I was molested as a child and I won't put up with it," Shelle Bentley told NewsChannel 8.
