Probation records reveal Duncan's travels

 After being paroled in 1994, sex offender Joseph Duncan traveled throughout the Seattle area and to several states. Here, based on state probation records, are some of Duncan's movements:

•Sept. 28, 1994: After repeated unsuccessful pleas for parole, Duncan is released to a halfway house in Seattle. Starts treatment with a counselor.

• Oct. 1994: Lands a job doing phone soliciting for Time-Life books.

• April 1995: Moves out of the halfway house and into Tuscany Apartments in Seattle.

• April 1995: Spends Easter with his mother in Tacoma. They attend church together.

• May 1995: Visits his father, who lives in a retirement community near Las Vegas.

• June 1995: Looks into schools offering courses in computer science.

• January 1996: Meets a married Seattle mother of two and begins dating her.

• January 1996: Gets new job at a small software company in Bothell.

• August 1996: Moves in with a gay couple in North Seattle.

• October 1996: Because of marijuana use, Duncan is arrested. Tells police he is worried about losing his job and his kittens while in jail. After several weeks, he is paroled again, with new restrictions.

• December 1996: Spends Christmas with his sister in Poulsbo, Wash. Duncan's working two jobs.

• March 4, 1997: Duncan again tests positive for marijuana.

• March 25, 1997: Duncan quits telemarketing job.

• March 27, 1997: Duncan calls his parole officer, angry about a polygraph test result. He says he's calling from his mother's house in Tacoma.

• May 20, 1997: Dave Woelfert says that Duncan called his former roommates a week earlier "and the call was from Northern California."

• August 26, 1997: FBI task force arrests Duncan at his half-sister's home in Kansas City, Mo., for violating his parole.

• Sept. 1997: A North Dakota doctor named Richard Wacksman hires an attorney for Duncan. Wacksman tells Duncan's parole officer that he met Duncan in San Francisco at a coffee house and that Duncan visited Wacksman at his home in Fargo, N.D., before being arrested.

• December 12, 1997: The state revokes Duncan's parole and reinstates the remainder of his prison sentence. With time off for previous good behavior, he is released from prison July 14, 2000.
