FOLSOM, Calif. - Folsom police have made an arrest in a sexual assault case involving a 9-year-old girl.
Police said they arrested 22-year-old Joshua Michael Allred late Thursday. They said Allred lives at the same Folsom apartment complex where the alleged attack happened earlier this month.
The girl was raped behind several garages at the Creekside Drive complex after being lured away from a nearby playground.
Investigators said Allred is a self-employed automobile detailer and he was taken into custody at a work site in Rocklin, and that he lied to police when he was first questioned about the incident.
"At the time the crime was reported, back on April 10, the detectives and patrol officers canvassed the area. At that time they actually talked to Mr. Allred, who matched the general description. Of course, at that time, we didn't have a detailed description or a composite drawing, but they did talk to him at that time and he had an alibi," Folsom Police Department spokesman Brian Dean said.
Investigators said they later found that Allred's alibi did not check out.
Police said Friday that Allred has told investigators that he sexually assaulted two other girls, both under the age of nine.
"That was part of his confession, that there was two additional victims," Folsom Police Department Detective Sharon Blackburn said.
Police said the other two cases did not occur in Folsom. They would not say what cities they did happened in, but said Folsom investigators have been in touch with investigators in those cities.
Police said Allred previously lived in Utah and has no known criminal record.
