ST. JOSEPH -- A 73-year-old man who has admitted to molesting more than 100 girls was sentenced to 15 to 30 years in prison for assaulting one girl on three separate occasions.

Robert Marshall of Stevensville earlier pleaded guilty to three counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct. He admitted performing oral sex on the girl at his former home between June 1997 and September 1998.

The girl was 11 at the time of the first assault.

In sentencing Marshall on Monday, Berrien County Circuit Judge Alfred Butzbaugh noted that a counselor reported that Marshall had no concept of the harm he had done. Marshall told the counselor that he had been assaulting girls for all of his adult life.

Prosecutors said that Marshall had used his swimming pool to attract young girls to his home.

He met many of his victims through his church and youth groups, they said.

Marshall, who is in failing health and requires dialysis, told the judge that he understood his actions were wrong.
