CRYSTAL RIVER - Authorities arrested a 28-year-old man Wednesday, accusing him of raping a 12-year-old girl at his home about three weeks ago.

Christopher Ronald Whitehead, 2850 N Crede Ave., Crystal River, was arrested on charges of lewd or lascivious battery on a child age 12 to 16 and lewd and lascivious molestation of a child younger than 16, according to an arrest report.

The girl told investigators that Whitehead, an acquaintance, forced her to have intercourse with him in his bedroom, according to the report. She told investigators she did not immediately tell anyone about the incident, but she said she told her sister about it several days later.

Whitehead told investigators the girl had come to his house to watch a movie and then performed a sex act on him. He admitted to having intercourse one time with the girl, but he told investigators she forced herself on him, according to the report. Whitehead was released from the Citrus County jail after posting $10,000 bail.
