Man accused of molesting children says he has AIDS

EDGEWATER, Fla. - A man accused of molesting children while his wife was baby-sitting them told has told police he has AIDS, creating fears he may have infected his alleged victims.

Brian Keith Follmer, 38, was arrested last week and charged with two counts of lewd and lascivious molestation of a child under the age of 16. That arrest stemmed from accusations Follmer sexually touched two neighborhood children, a boy and a girl, both 8 years old, over their clothing while his common law wife, Deanna Clark, was watching them, police said.

Police obtained a warrant Monday for an additional capital sexual battery charge against Follmer. He has not been charged in that case. Edgewater Detective Jo Anne Winston said the new accusation involves skin to skin contact with a 5-year-old girl. Investigators interviewed the girl Friday, she said.

The child was also being cared for at Follmer's apartment when the incident occurred, Winston said.

"If he does have it, he put these children at risk," Winston said. "Think about the fear he has inflicted in these parents. Not only in the inhumanity (of the crimes), but also with this disease."

Investigators plan to interview two other children, 4-and 5-year-old boys, and are looking to see if there are any other potential victims.

"A baby sitter is someone you are supposed to trust," Winston said. "In my opinion this is the worst kind of betrayal one person can inflict on another."
