SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) - Serial child molester Dean Schwartzmiller pleaded not guilty Monday to charges he abused two 12-year-old cousins from San Jose.
Schwartzmiller, 64, faces seven felony charges for allegedly molesting the boys this spring. He's been held without bail since his arrest in late May.
Police confiscated meticulously recorded logs listing more than 36,000 children's names, mostly boys, and codes that appeared to indicate how he abused them. Authorities said while some of the names are duplicates and other entries may include fantasies, they believe Schwartzmiller may have hundreds of victims in several states and countries.
His preliminary hearing was set for Nov. 16 in Santa Clara County Superior Court.
Schwartzmiller has at least three molestation convictions and a dozen arrests over three decades.
